Jon Mick spent 40 years trying to fix his brain. Then he built AI infrastructure around the way it actually works.
In this episode of HumanPrint, I talk with Jon, a twice-exceptional product leader and founder of AIs & Shine, about the personal AI system he built to better understand and support the way he thinks.
We get into what changes when AI has meaningful context instead of just a single chat window, why Jon created rules, a personal constitution, and even a “treaty” governing how his AI interacts with him, and how he uses gates, evidence, and explicit labels for inference to keep the system from becoming the authority on who he is.
We also talk about the relationship between AI and self-understanding, why validation matters when a model surfaces something about you, and what Jon learned when he tried to turn his own system into something other people could use. One of the biggest lessons: insight can arrive faster than a person is ready to integrate it.
AI can help you see patterns, build context, and understand yourself differently. The human operator still has to decide what those patterns mean.
